Newport News is
the retail center for the Virginia Peninsula. Centered on
Patrick
Henry Mall, the Patrick Henry retail corridor contains
everything from Wal-Mart and Target to Ski World and Babies
R Us to World Market and Trader Joe's.
In City Center at Oyster
Point, high-end, Main Street shopping is anchored by Ann
Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Chico’s, Coldwater Creek,
J Jill, Jos. A Bank and Talbot’s/Talbot’s Petites.
These are supplemented by a host of smaller retailers, such
as Ten Thousand Villages, restaurants and cafes (you can get
gelato there and eat it by City Center’s fountain plaza).
Port Warwick also
offers a host of specialty shops and restaurants, all conveniently
located around Styron Square. Hilton
Village, Newport News’ original Main Street shopping
district, maintains its period charm with a unique offering
of eclectic stores and restaurants.
Throughout the City, neighborhood
shopping needs are met by two dozen community and anchored
shopping centers and dozens of strip centers. Virtually every
neighborhood is only minutes away from extensive shopping
opportunities.
There are some very unique shopping opportunities available to Newport News residents in nearby Williamsburg. Handcrafted items, fashioned in the style of the eighteenth century, can be purchased in Colonial Williamsburg, including silver, pewter, glass, leather and wood, as well as furniture, candles, hats and other items. Hand blown glassware can also be purchased at Jamestown. In Lightfoot, the famous Williamsburg Pottery and other factory outlets offer a wide variety of unusual and everyday items at discount prices. |
