FINE ARTS MUSEUMS

Six fine arts museums, all less than an hour’s drive, supplement various temporary exhibits to be found at area universities. The Chrysler Museum in Downtown Norfolk, endowed by Walter P. Chrysler, Jr., possesses a world-class collection of painting, sculpture and objects d’art and has hosted major traveling exhibitions. The Peninsula Museum of Fine Art, located near the Mariners’ Museum in Newport News, attracts a variety of traveling exhibits.
