REGIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
Newport News is part of the Hampton Roads MSA, the 30th largest market in the U.S. and the largest between Washington and Atlanta (more than 1.5 million people). Hampton Roads contains two sub-regions, the Virginia Peninsula (Newport News, Hampton, Williamsburg, Poquoson and the counties of Gloucester, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews and York) and the Southside (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Suffolk). Newport News promotes regional cooperation and is active in supporting regional organizations on the Virginia Peninsula and serving the entire Hampton Roads region.
